Voting in the 2024 Territory Election officially closed at 6pm today.
Counting will now commence at scrutiny centres in Darwin and Alice Springs and at all election day voting centres across the Territory.
Results will be progressively updated on the NT Electoral Commission website.
Scrutiny centres will count early votes, and remote and urban mobile votes. Election day voting centres will count the votes cast today. All counting will conclude at 11pm tonight.
NT Electoral Commissioner Kirsten Kelly says the count period has now commenced and will continue to 6 September, which is the deadline for receipt of postal votes and final count before the distribution of preferences.
counting is now underway to determine whether Labor wins a third term or the Country Liberals seize back power for only the second time in the 21st century.
The Coalition tends to be stronger on cracking down on Crime than the Labor Party so a swing to the Liberals could be in play if the campaigning focused on the right policy issues.
